Oddly enough, much of what we call tea is not really tea at all. There are many beverages that are prepared like tea but do not contain the tea plant (Camellia sinensis). Still, the flavor of these fruity and/or floral infusions is delectable, so Hadley’s Tea stocks its shelves with a wide variety of herbal “teas.”
About Herbal Tea
There are two different types of herbal teas:
Herbal infusion Teas
These blends combine tea leaves (Chinese or Assam varieties) with petals, leaves, buds, oils, etc. of other flowers, fruits or spices. In general, the bold flavor of black teas makes it a good base for spices and citrus. The milder green and white teas are ideal for infusions with flowers and fruit.
Herbal infusions do not contain any parts of the tea plant. Instead, the brew is made by steeping parts of other flavorful plants—leaves, stems, buds, seeds, etc.
Herbal infusions are typically caffeine-free, and many have high concentrations of antioxidants and other healthful properties, making them excellent wellness aids.
