Black Tea

Our Black Teas
Black tea is
the best known and the most popular tea in the
West. Indeed, it is often the only
tea normally encountered by many. It forms the
basis of our daily cup and the British hold it in
such high regard that it is often
considered synonymous with
that nation. The range of Black
teas available at Hadley's has been selected to
provide experience into the diversity and complexity
of the brew while also offering great-tasting
examples of old favorites such as English Breakfast and
Earl Grey.
Black teas
contain the highest caffeine content of all of the teas,
so are a great way to help kick-start your
day.
- Flavored Blacks
All types of tea make ideal bases for flavoured blends. Generally speaking, black teas work better with spices, and green & white teas with fruits and flowers, but we love to experiment. It is nice to note that most of these blends work very well as iced tea.
- Our Earl Grey Collection
Earl Grey derives its distinctive flavour and aroma from the addition of oil extracted from the rind of the bergamot orange, a fragrant citrus fruit. Traditionally the term "Earl Grey" was applied only to black tea; however, today the term is also applied to less oxidized teas including greens, whites and oolongs, as well as tisanes, such as rooibos, that contain oil of bergamot.
